Brits Brawl in a Battle Royal

I felt like including some alliteration in a post’s title and I found this match so here we go! If you were ever curious about that British guy who was over the hill in WCW or way over the hill in WWE, but could still go then this is a terrible match to watch for that. Sure, Dave Taylor is in it, but he can’t really show off his ability even if he does get in a gorilla press slam and last a decent amount of time.

If on the other hand you felt like watching a bunch of Europeans battle it out in what the commentator refers to as a royal rumble, but is actually what modern fans know better as a battle royal then this one is for you. Robbie Hagan sticks out like a sore thumb in this bout that took place at Wrestling Madness held by the Catch Wrestling Association. Hagan kind of reminds me of someone only gruffer and chunkier looking. That’s right! It is Owen Hart if he hadn’t shaved or bathed in a week and had a few too many boxes of Mallomars. Surprisingly he makes it to the final two before getting a dropick in the rump from Danny Boy Collins, the winner of the contest!

Other participants included: Tony Sinclair, Drew McDonald, El Bandito, Skull Murphy, Marty Jones, Terry Rudge, Chic Cullen, Robbie Brookside, Gary Clewyd, Kid McCoy and Johnny Saint.

A Lacrosse Battle Royal

Recently, a brawl broke out during an indoor lacrosse game in Canada and this video of the rumble made it online. Fifteen suspensions were made, but I didn’t read of any serious injuries resulting from the melee, which makes it okay to laugh about.

I wanted to pair this video with a wrestler in a ridiculous lacrosse gimmick. However, after much searching I came up empty handed. So, instead here is some action from Incredibly Strange Wrestling. ISW existed from 1995 until about 2003. I was lucky enough to catch some ISW action during The Vans Warped Tour in 2001 where I bought a $25 VHS tape that ISW produced. Yes, I actually spent $25 on a VHS tape in 2001. Anyway, as you can see the promotion had all sorts of ridiculous gimmicks so enjoy.

Avoiding a Sausagefest

Before today I haven’t posted any solid women’s wrestling matches and now…I still haven’t! However, I’ve been meaning to feature some women’s wrestling on the blog and since I started out with a battle royal for the men, I thought I would do the same for the ladies. I’m sure I will get around to posting some good stuff featuring Madusa, Aja Kong and heck maybe even The Jumping Bomb Angels, but for now enjoy this fun little trip back to the ’80s.

As for the match itself, it is tough to comment on as the commentator is right when he mentions it is impossible to follow. However, you get to see some crazy ’80′s clothes, Mae Young…or rather Joyce Grable and Madusa rocking a sweet mullet.

Kicking Off With…

I thought I would start off with a bang and post this epic comedy battle royal. I originally watched it in parts and haven’t gotten a chance to view all of this particular video. However, I have skimmed it and it appears to be all there. Plus this way you don’t have to jump around YouTube looking for the rest of it!

Look out for WWE alumni, TAKA Michinoku and Yoshihiro Tajiri. Also, one WWE Hall of Famer makes an appearance and gives a better performance than he has delivered in years.
