There are a lot of things you can say about William Regal (formerly Steven Regal), but I don’t think anyone can deny that he is a real man’s man. Okay, maybe this was a little before that ill-fated gimmick, but I couldn’t resist the reference.
As part of NJPW’s 1997 G1 Climax, NWO and WCW forces clash, which shows just how massive that angle was at it’s peak. It is a shame WCW never really used Muta at this point though as giving him some pay-per-view singles action could have produced some classics. As for his opponent here, the match actually shows that Regal does age as he looks a lot younger despite still looking youthful today. I always credit it to his hair, which for some reason has a Fountain of Youth property to it. The more stylish the hair the younger Regal looks. Anyway, might as well make one comment about the content of the match: Muta spews the mist in a very sneaky manner.
