This strong style match is brought to you by the letter “p” for pain! Actually, it is brought to you courtesy of the 2012 edition of the NJPW New Japan Cup. NJPW is capping off a great year and this annual single-elimination tournament was a highlight. This bout is taken from the quarterfinals, but the way that Karl Anderson and Shinsuke Nakamura are hammering on each other you could swear it wasn’t just a tournament final, but a fatal fight! A nice touch Anderson throws in is when he pulls down his knee pad just to inflict a little more pain on his nemesis with some knee drops.
The most exciting part of the match is when Karl hits one of those famous Anderson spinebusters. He then does his best Randy Orton impression and tries to hit an RKO aka gun stun. Nakamura gets out of it, but it blows up in his face. Anderson goes to the top rope and hits an astounding top rope neckbreaker. From there Nakamura puts in a little more offense, but it is futile. After trading strikes, Anderson comes out on top with some European uppercuts before blasting Nakamura with a gun stun.
While Hirooki Goto ultimately won the tournament this match shows that Japanese wrestling fans should stick by Anderson and Nakamura.
