“Irresistible” Jason Styles vs. Rellik
Old Jon Hugger has had an interesting career to say the least. His involvement in mainstream American wrestling dates all the way back to 1999 when he worked for WCW as Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli. He then went onto work for WWE and TNA before settling on the indie scene. Along the way he even had some head scratching runs in AJPW and LLUSA. Oh yeah did I mention he isn’t too old even today and is only 36? Also, I have it on good authority that Rellik is killer spelled backwards.
Yes, perhaps Hugger’s most enduring character, Rellik appears in the above clip to take on “Irresistible” Jason Styles. This was in 2008 at about the same time Rellik was still collecting that fat (slim?) TNA money. As such BTW really go out of their way to play Rellik up as a monster. Luckily, BTW didn’t also book Black Reign or there would be at minimum a 100 percent chance of this clip sucking more. Anyway, when the match starts Styles won’t even enter the ring and neither will the ref! Styles has a good reason too because as soon as he enters he gets rammed to the mat by Rellik who then immediately puts his boots to him. However, Styles plays too crafty of a character to let Rellik take his title away. After an attempted German suplex, Styles wallops Rellik with a nut shot for the pin.
Nowadays Rellik is gone from the independent scene. However, Hugger is still likely to pop up time and again as either Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli or Relic much to the chagrin of Mike Tenay.
