Nikki St. John vs. D’arcy Dixon
Before I get into the bulk of this clip I just have to hyperlink to an odd picture of The Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan as is tradition when discussing Resistance Pro clips on The Johnson Transcript.
Now that, that’s out of the way let’s look at the debut nobody expected (mostly because it wasn’t promoted…like at all), Resistance Pro TV 2.0. The first episode has a whopper of a match pitting Nikki St. John against D’arcy Dixon for the vacant Resistance Pro Women’s Championship. Why is the title vacant? Well as addressed in the clip former champion Amazing Kong was sick and not able to compete within 60 days of her last match as required by Resistance Pro.
The match is a little tough to get into, but the crowd seems into it which helps out. Also, Dixon hypes up the audience even further by signaling for them to cheer throughout the match. However, outside of some armdrags and a dropkick by Dixon, the match has a pretty slow pace and consists largely of St. John dominating with restholds. For the finish Dixon devastates St. John by defeating her with a powerbomb. After the match Dixon gives an interview where she trashes a heckler, but the Resistance Pro cameras fail to film him. Oh well, maybe next time.
The clip also hypes Dixon’s next title defense which will be against Mickie Knuckles at the company’s next event, Stick It To Ya.
