UPW is a new promotion that opened in Florida in July 2013. From what I’ve seen of their social media presence online it doesn’t look like they’ve built up a strong cult following yet, but if they keep producing the quality content they do for their YouTube channel then they should. The clips from this channel are full matches with relatively big name independent stars current Ring of Honor (ROH) mega indie star, Jay Lethal. The full matches are beautifully filmed with multiple cameras, clear pictures, awesome lighting and great commentary. Aside from the bouts some briefer bits and pieces are featured including a promo from former WWE star, Mason Ryan of all people! The biggest shortcoming of this channel is that the folks running it are not that prolific in uploading content. As such in the six months or so since it has been launched there are only eight videos. Yet, since the promotion is still alive and well hopefully new content will be added more regularly in the future.

Aaron Epic vs. Edward Malken
With as much as Aaron Epic wrestles on the independent scene in New England, it gets tough to remember that he started out in Florida and still performs there. This Florida crowd probably never forgets and Epic gets some pretty epic face chants (pun fully intended).
Edward Malken is a newer wrestler on the Florida independent scene and in wrestling in general. He comes out in a leather jacket to open the clip and taunts the crowd. Why the leather jacket in Florida’s searing heat you ask? Well, Malken has something hidden under there, namely a natural sweater that brings back memories of Miguel Perez. Big hairy chest or not Malken soon finds himself in a headlock and it is only through dastardly means that he can get the match going in his favor. From there Malken pulls out some Professional Wrestling 101 moves by choking Epic in the ropes and going straight to the eyes of Florida’s hero.
Epic comes back from Malken’s assault and makes him pay. Epic clamps on the Lance Storm special aka a single leg Boston crab and gets Malken reaching for the ropes. Despite Malken’s manly look, the dude may instead be a lady. Malken must have forgot his estrogen pills because he retreats in a manner rarely seen on today’s independent scene. In any event the crowd still loves Epic and the clip ends with some cheers.
