Indie Flashback: Super Hentai Wrestles Orion at IWC Super Indy

by Daniel Johnson

Super Hentai vs. Orion

The IWC Video Archive was just opened to unleash some more goodness from the original IWC Super Indy tournament. This bout showcases former IWC Heavyweight Champion Orion against everyone’s favorite 18 and over Google image search entry, Super Hentai. Here are some observations about the match:

* Orion comes out to “Born of a Broken Man” by Rage Against the Machine. The song is badass to be sure. Too bad it skips uncontrollably toward the end.

*It looks like there is a standard tarp that is placed in the entrance way to hide the wrestlers coming in. If I ever run an independent promotion I’d like to set up a similar tarp and say it was in tribute to the first IWC Super Indy tournament.

*Hentai’s outfit has a slight resemblance to Kim Chee.

*The match only really gets going when Orion and Hentai start dishing out chops to each other. Although it it erupts into a full-on chopfest the much smaller Hentai does not last long against Orion.

*There are only three real high flying moves in this match and two of them miss. First, Hentai misses a big splash then almost immediately after Orion misses a lionsault. Hentai makes this up to the crowd by ending the bout with a killer norther lights suplex from the second rope.

*I know I’ve mentioned it before when writing about the exact same show, but I can’t help but get distracted by the guy in the NWO Wolfpack shirt. It just goes to show if you wear a random enough shirt to an important enough wrestling show people will still be blogging about you over 10 years later.
