*“The Juice” JT Dunn, the winner of The Johnson Transcript Surging Star Award for 2012, teamed wtih rival Chris Hero for the first time at Beyond Wrestling on December 28. The pair wrestled the similarly composed team of Ryan “Adrenaline” Rush and “The Prince of Queens” Brian Myers aka former WWE star Curt Hawkins at Beyond Wrestling Ends Meet. Each team consisted of a veteran wrestler and a younger performer. Rush pinnedThe Crown J winner for 2012 to close the match.
*At the same show Dunn’s partner in his regular tag team, The Juicy Product, “The Product” David Starr lost to Kimber Lee. Given Lee’s relationship with Dunn there is a lot of potential for good storytelling here.
*Also at that show “The Outlaw” Stockade defeated “The Bulldozer” Matt Tremont in a fans bring the weapons match. Stockade is currrently winning this feud, but it looks to continue.
*Big R Shimizu who is just in his second year of wrestling for Dragon Gate (DG) in Japan was part of a trios team that won the DG Open the Triangle Gate Championship on December 28. His teammates were the considerably more experienced Masaaki Mochizuki and Dragon Kid. The three are collectively known as Dia.HEARTS. They defeated Jimmyz consisting of Genki Horiguchi HAGeeMee, Jimmy Susumu and Ryo Jimmy Saito at DG Final Gate 2014.
*While one young man earned a title at DG Final Gate 2014, two others lost their straps. Millenials consisting of Eita Kobayashi and T-Hawk, both in their twenties dropped the DG Open the Twin Gate Championship to MAD BLANKEY made up up of Yamato and Cyber Kong, both in their thirties. Eita and T-Hawk had been in their third run with the belts, which ended up being their shortest time as champs with a reign of just 25 days.
*Jason Lee (a 22 year-old wrestler for ZERO 1, not the guy from My Name is Earl) won the unified ZERO 1 World Junior Heavyweight Championship and ZERO 1 International Junior Heavyweight Championship for the second time on December 28 in Hong Kong, China. The man he defeated for the title is Takuya Sugawara who has been performing for ZERO 1 regularly since 2005.
*In NWA Smoky Mountain, The Heatseekers consisting of Elliot Russell and Sigmon won the NWA United States Tag Team Championship at NWA Smoky Mountain The Finale 2014 on December 27. Russell and Sigmon defeated Air America made up of Gavin Daring and Skylar Kruze in a title vs. title match where The Heatseeker’s NWA Smoky Mountain Tag Team Championship was also on the line.
*At Anarchy Wrestling (Anarchy) in Georgia, Jeremy Foster won the Anarchy Young Lions Championship on December 27 at Anarchy Season’s Beatings 2014. Foster won a scramble match for the title in a performance involving former champion Joey Rhymer. Also, involved in the match were Kevin Blue, Fred Yehi, Supernatural, Jacob Ashworth, Lars Manderson and Trevor Aeon.
*The 421 day title reign of Japanese sensation, Syuri, in Universal Woman’s Pro Wrestling REINA (UWWR or REINA) has ended. On December 26, the 25 year-old Syrui fell victim to Kana at REINA Final Stage 2014. Although Syuri lost the REINA World Women’s Championship, she still holds the CMLL World Women’s Championship for Mexico’s CMLL. The bout went over 20 minutes and closed the show at the legendary Korakuen Hall.
*In Mexico’s International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) on December, 25, Eterno and Canis Lupus won a tournament for the vacant IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Championship. The duo bested a pair of IWRG regulars in Chicano and Imposible. Eterno is just 24 years-old, but this marks his fourth reign with a title in IWRG and his second run with the IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Championship.
