A unique aspect of Abdullah The Butcher’s tenure in WWC is that beyond simply being given a monster push, he was brought in as the first holder of the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship. Abdullah and a few select others such as Andre The Giant and rival Bruiser Brody had auras surrounding them that must be impossible to reproduce today now that wrestling is as saturated as it is.
One could then only imagine being a citizen of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and watching Abdullah unleash on Carlos Colon. The announcers here oversell the riot as it was captured on camera. However, who knows what happened when the cameras went off? This is made worse by the fact that Oscar Martinez of NBC’s The Office is the only one trying to keep control as the guest referee.
