Although the most anticipated WWE WrestleMania debut taking place at tomorrow’s event may be Sting’s match, he is not the only one wrestling for the first time at the grand daddy of them all. After more than 11 years as an active wrestler, the 35 year-old Luke Harper, formerly known as Brodie Lee, will wrestle in a match on the biggest show of the year for the first time at WWE WrestleMania 31.
With that said though this match may be the most epic of his career to date, Lee is no stranger to big time matches. In comparison to WWE, C4 Wrestling (or any indie company really) may run much smaller shows, but the main event of C4 Wrestling Domination 2K11 felt special. Michael Elgin was white hot at the time and as far as Lee goes…well let’s just say he was signed to WWE by the same time next year and you can draw your own conclusions.
A unique aspect of this match is that, that night Lee had one heck of a potty mouth on him. After Lee misses a chop he goes outside to confront a fan and tells him to, “Shut the *expletive* up.“
The commentators do a great job of building this main event up as well as they compare it to the classic bout of Hulk Hogan/Andre The Giant by referring to it as the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. This is in stark contrast to tomorrow’s Brock Lesnar/Roman Reigns main event which may end up being a case of all the irresistible forces wrestling in a ladder match while the main event features two immovable objects.
As for the spots of the match, Elgin hits an incredible running swanton over the top rope to the floor. Inside Lee then performs a vicious looking overhead belly-to-belly suplex. When a fan gives Lee grief again Lee says, “Shut your *expletive* mouth.“
For the finish Lee hits not one, not two, but four big boots and pins Elgin!
