Shane Strickland vs. “Chainsaw” Joe Gacy
At Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) Shane Strickland had held the CZW Wired TV Championship for 144 days when he went into the main event of CZW Dojo Wars 6 to defend against familiar opponent, “Chainsaw”Joe Gacy. Before the two even locked up the small, but vocal crowd was chanting, “New champ” creating an excellent atmosphere where anything could happen.
Strickland spent the opening of the match playing a cowardly heel. First, Strickland refused to enter the ring then as soon as Gacy went outside to get him Strickland of course jumped inside the squared circle. Needless to say when Gacy finally hit Stickland with a strike to the face the champ went down immediately.
As the match progressed Strickland peppered in some comedy spots. Bits included taking a break to pose with “The Juice” JT Dunn and “The Product” David Starr then later raising his voice some octaves when admonished for a choke hold to say, “Sorry, just wrestling.” Things get real when Strickland taunts Gacy and says, “I’m better than you. I’ve always been better than you. I’m always going to be better than you.” Then Gacy’s heavy breathing really starts.
Gacy goes on to take an ace crusher, a DDT and a crossface among other moves. Meanwhile he just keeps breathing heavier and heavier to the point where he sounds asthmatic. The crowd gets super into it and the end is a bit of a shock for a CZW Dojo Wars show.
